3 players unlucky to miss out on India’s 2025 Champions Trophy squad ft. Mohammed Siraj

BCCI have finally announced the 15-man India squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Rohit Sharma is set to lead the team, and Shubman Gill has been assigned the vice captain role. India will play all their matches at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. More or less all the selections that were made in the squad were expected, but some players have definitely been unfortunate to miss the squad. Let us take a look at the three Indian players who were unfortunate to miss the Champions Trophy 2025.

3 players unlucky to miss out on India’s 2025 Champions Trophy squad:

1. Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj was the most unfortunate one to miss the squad for the Champions Trophy. He has been a constant presence in the team in all three formats of the game for quite some time. However, he has struggled to pick wickets in the limited-overs format in 2024. Siraj scalped just one wicket in three matches in the T20 World Cup 2024 and picked three wickets in the three ODIs that he has played in 2024. Captain Rohit Sharma felt that Siraj is good with the new ball but is not effective at the death, and hence they needed Arshdeep Singh.

2. Karun Nair

Karun Nair has been in terrific form for Vidarbha in the Vijay-Hazare Trophy this season. He has scored 752 runs across seven innings at an unimaginable average of 752, which includes five centuries. He has gotten out just once across the seven innings and has played a big part in Vidarbha’s qualification for the final, were they will face Karnataka. His tremendous form kept in the headlines, and everyone was expecting his return to the national team.

3. Nitish Kumar Reddy

Hardik Pandya is the only seam-bowling all-rounder in the team, and everyone expected Nitish Kumar Reddy to be part of the squad after the stunning series that he had in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2024/25. Reddy has also played in the T20I format for India and has impressed with his ball striking, especially against the spinners. He has looked like a calm and composed player in the BGT, but India has gone in with four spinners in their squad.
