Rishabh Pant madness at Sydney

Rishabh Pant, who was India’s highest run-getter in the first innings of the final Border-Gavaskar test at Sydney, is back and running in his own style in the second innings.

Pant came in to bat after another heartbreaking departure of Indian veteran Virat Kohli, who once again nicked off an outside off ball from Boland back to Steve Smith at second slip.

Amid this, when Rishabh Pant, the left-handed batter, came into bat, he went off strike with a commanding stepping-out six over long-on to Australia’s most strike bowler, Scott Boland, at Sydney.

This was just the trailer of the storm that was yet to come, as Pant smashed every bowler in Boland, Webster, and Starc to all corners of the ground, thus bringing out his most unorthodox shots that brewed results here at the SCG.

Rishabh Pant, who scored his first fifty of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2025 for India, looked fearless in his approach, the attitude the talented batter was restricted from in the previous matches he featured in.

Pant, batting at a strike rate over 200, scored India’s fastest fifty off just 29 balls, though he could not surpass his own record of India’s fastest fifty for 29 balls. Pant, who has 15 half-centuries, is also the recipient of 7 90+ scores in red-ball cricket, which looks like an exquisite record with less than 50 matches played.

The Australian skipper has finally dismissed Pant, who has hundreds in the longest format in SENA countries, as he tricked Pant into throwing his bat at a wider one, as Pant departs for 61.
