Wasim Jaffer picks his left-handed ODI and Test XI

Former India opener, Wasim Jaffer, celebrated international Lefthanders day by picking up his all-time left-handed ODI and Test XI on Wednesday. In his ODI XI, he selected the swashbuckling Australian batter, Matthew Hayden and Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya as the opening pair. Kumar Sangakkara from Sri Lanka took the number three spot in his line-up.

Former West Indies legend, Brian Lara, would bat at number 4 and was also picked as the captain of the ODI team. Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh would bat at five, followed by Australia finisher Michael Bevan at number 6. South Africa’s formidable all-rounder, Lance Klusener took the number seven spot in his all-time ODI XI, followed by the Sultan of swing, Wasim Akram at number eight.

Former Sri Lankan pacer, Chaminda Vaas will partner with former India fast bowler, Zaheer Khan at ninth and tenth spots, respectively. Current Indian chinaman, Kuldeep Yadav was the lone front-line spin option present in the side.

Only two Indians makes into Wasim Jaffer’s Test XI

Jaffer picked Australia’s Matthew Hayden and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara as the opening pair in his Test XI. West Indies legend Brian Lara came in at number 3, followed by South Africa’s Graeme Pollock at number four spot.

Australia’s Allan Border would bat number 5 and was also picked as the captain of the team. One of the best all-rounders in Test Cricket history, Sir Garfield Sobers claimed the sixth spot in Jaffer’s all-time Test XI.

As for the wicket-keeping option, Jaffer roped in Adam Gilchrist, who would bat at number seven. Pakistan’s Wasim Akram and India’s Zaheer Khan were two premier pacers in his Test XI. He kept three options for the number 10 spot, namely Mitchell Johnson, Chaminda Vaas and Trent Boult. India’s Kuldeep Yadav was the spin option present in his side.

Former Indian cricketer, Wasim Jaffer played 31 Test matches for India in his illustrious career, scoring 1944 runs at an average of 34.1, including five centuries and eleven half-centuries. Besides, he played 2 ODIs for India and has scored 10 runs.
