Ishan Kishan has been dropped from the central contract by BCCI
During the absence of Rishabh Pant, the Indian team trusted on Ishan Kishan in the West Indies tour last year. He repaid the faith with a half-century in the very first game. However, ahead of the tour against South Africa at the end of the year, Kishan cited mental fatigue as a reason and sidelined himself from the squad. Reports stated that he was not happy with head coach Rahul Dravid snubbing him from the playing XI in the limited overs tour.
BCCI, however did not take Kishan’s decision lightly as he was seen enjoying in a party in Dubai. Moreover, he decided to skip the red ball domestic season and started preparing for the IPL 2024 and this was not seen lightly by the BCCI. The BCCI dropped Shreyas Iyer and Kishan from the central contract and made a strict rule that every player needs to prove their form and fitness in the domestic cricket before making an entry back into the national team.
Since then, Kishan has not found his place in any format in the national team. He is back in domestic cricket and scoring the runs. Now, it is all up to the selectors if they decide to give him a chance in the national team. Kishan is really a talented young batter who can bat aggressively in any format of the game. He will definitely be an asset in the long run.
