Australian spinner Nathan Lyon has warned Team India ahead of the Border-Gavaksar trophy in Australia, later, this year. Australia haven’t won a Test series against India since the 2014-15 series in Australia. They have lost two at home and two away from home.
Nathan Lyon mentioned that after ten years, the Australian cricket team is eager to change their fortunes, especially at home. He acknowledged India as a strong and challenging team but emphasized his desire to win back the trophy.
Lyon also noted that the Australian team has evolved and is on a path to becoming a great side, although they aren’t there yet but have been performing well recently.
“It’s been ten years of unfinished business, it’s been a long time, and I know we’re extremely hungry to turn things around especially here at home. Don’t get me wrong, India is an absolute superstar side and extremely challenging but I’m extremely hungry to turn things around and make sure we get that trophy back,” he added. Feel like we are a different team to a couple of years ago, we are on a journey of becoming a great Australian cricket team. We’re definitely not there but we are along that journey and have been playing some decent cricket,” Lyon was quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
Nathan Lyon heaps praise on Yashasvi Jaiswal
Yashasvi Jaiswal has taken the world by storm since his debut in Test cricket. Jaiswal is an attacking batter who takes on the bowlers right from the start. He scored a century on debut against West Indies away from home.
During the home series against England, Jaiswal was sensational on the turning tracks. He scored 712 runs at an astonishing strike rate of 79.91. Jaiswal scored two double centuries and three fifties to finish as the top scorer in the 5-match Test series against England.

Nathan Lyon mentioned that he hasn’t faced Yashasvi Jaiswal yet, but he sees him as a significant challenge for the bowlers. Lyon was impressed with how Jaiswal performed against England, having watched it closely. He also discussed Jaiswal’s approach with Tom Hartley and found their conversation insightful.
Lyon said: “I haven’t come across him [Jaiswal] yet, but that will be a massive challenge for all us bowlers. The way he played against England, I watched that quite closely and thought that was quite amazing. I had some really good chats with Tom Hartley about different ways he went about it to different guys which I found quite interesting.”
The 5-match Test series between Australia and India is going to be a cracker of a series yet again.
