India is set to travel to Australia at the end of the year to take part in a 5-match Test series, popularly also known as The Border-Gavaskar Trophy. It is one of the most fiercest contested series in the cricket world.

The series is set to start on November 22. The venues will be Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, respectively. Meanwhile, Australia’s former wicket-keeper batter Adam Gilchrist has made his prediction regarding the series.

Gilchrist believes that the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be challenging for both Australia and India. He feels that Australia needs to demonstrate its strength at home, while acknowledging that India has proven its ability to win matches abroad.

Gilchrist praised India’s current fast bowling attack, considering it to be among the best in the world, and noted that they will likely adapt well to Australian conditions. He also highlighted India’s strong batting lineup, making the series highly competitive. Although he hopes Australia will win, he expects a very close contest.

โ€œIt is going to be another tough series for both teams. Onus is on Australia to prove they are the dominant force at home. India knows how to go away and win overseas. Their fast bowling line-up at the moment is up there, on a par with most around the world. They are going to enjoy the conditions here. Besides, they have a terrifically talented batting line-up. It is going to be very, very even. Naturally, I am going to say Australia; I hope they get there. But it is too close to call. It will be a close tussle,โ€ Gilchrist was quoted as saying by the Times of India.

It is worth mentioning that Australia haven’t won any Border-Gavaskar Trophy since 2014-15. India have won two Test series at home and also won the two Test series in Australia, held in this period. India under, Virat Kohli registered their first Test series win in Australia in 2018.

In 2020-21, India came back from a humiliating first Test defeat in Adelaide, to win the series by a margin of 2-1. They also breached Australia’s fortress, The Gabba, in Brisbane.
