In the recent CEAT awards, Southee, in a fun-filled interview, was questioned over if he could swap lives with another cricketer, then who would it be, and Southee replied wittily with the name of former Indian skipper MS Dhoni.
“MS Dhoni – just wanted to see how life will be as MS Dhoni”, said Southee at CEAT Cricketers awards.
The cricket legend is often considered one of the world’s most fascinating sportsmen who enjoys massive fan support and huge crowd reception in every part of the world.
Several cricketers have often splurged over the fact that they aspire to not only be a cricketer of Dhoni’s caliber but also live a life of his standards. Now, legendary Kiwi pacer Southee has also emerged to have a similar aspiration.
Southee has previously played for the Chennai Super Kings under skipper Dhoni, and the two have also shared a close bond. Tim Southee was presented with the award of Men’s T20I bowler of the year in the CRED awards presentation.
MS Dhoni likely to be retained by CSK as an uncapped player
The news was in the buzz for a long time, and now it seems assured that the BCCI will allow MS Dhoni to be retained as an uncapped player.
The Indian great retired from all forms of cricket back in 2019, and now he is aged 43, the oldest to ever play in the Indian Premier League. Dhoni has been a part of the IPL and the CSK franchise since 2008, only playing for the Rising Pune Supergiant in 2016 and 2017.
The most successful skipper of the IPL has led CSK to 10 IPL finals, the most played by any team, a likely record that seems unbreakable. If Dhoni is retained by the Super Kings, his price will be much lower than the previous editions, with just a tag of INR 4 crores.
