Englandโ€™s wicketkeeper-batsman, Jamie Smith, has scored his maiden international ton against Sri Lanka in the ongoing first Test at Manchester. This is the young Englishmanโ€™s first hundred, as he scored a stunning 111 runs off 148 balls.

English fans, as well as spectators of Jamie Smith, have lauded his innings over the X handle.

Sri Lanka started with a tumbling innings, losing six wickets for just 92 runs on the board. However, The skipper D de Silva (74) and the debutant no. 9 (72) played some crucial knocks to take Sri Lanka to a respectable 236.

The English openers also didnโ€™t start very well. However, the likes of Root (42), Brook (56) and Jamie Smith (111) took England to a mammoth score of 538.

Jamie was unbeaten on 72 at stumps on Day 2 as he came to bat alongside Atkinson on the third day. He went on to complete his maiden century at just 24 years of age. For the unversed, Jamie has replaced skipper Ben Stokes, who got injured due to a hamstring injury.

The 24-year-old has already scored 10 first-Class centuries playing county cricket, with the highest individual score of 234. However, Jamie Smith, who made his Test debut on the tour against the West Indies, scored a brilliant 95-run knock in the last inning against the West Indies.

He finally reached the milestone as he became the youngest-ever English batter to score a century in Test cricket at 24 years and 40 days.
