Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket through a video message, today. Many former and current cricketers poured in congratulatory messages for the southpaw on a successful career.

Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan also sent an emotional message for his son, Zoravar. He wished that his son gets to know about his retirement and his cricketing journey. He wants his son to remember him as a good human being.

Zoravar is 11 now. I hope he gets to know about my retirement and all about my cricket journey. But more than as a cricketer, I would like for Zoravar to remember me as a good human being,”  Dhawan said in an interview with Hindustan Times.

While announcing his retirement, Dhawan stated that it is important to look forward in life and that is the reason why he took the moment to call it quits from professional cricket. He is also content that he has represented his country on the big stages and not unhappy that he won’t be able to feature for India anymore in international cricket.

“It’s important to turn the page to move forward in life and that’s why I am announcing my retirement from international and domestic cricket. I am leaving with peace in my heart that I played for so long for India. I tell myself not to feel sad that you will not play for India anymore, but to feel happy that you played for your country,” he said in video message.
