Indian captain Rohit Sharma is enjoying his break as Indian team’s next assignment starts on 19th September. Their next assignment is a home Test series against Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, a video has gone viral on the internet where Sharma could be seen training hard on his fitness, seemingly, in a park. In the video, he could be seen undergoing an intense cardio session in a park with India’s assistant coach, Abhishek Nayar.
You can watch the clip here:
After the T20 World Cup 2024 win, Rahul Dravid stepped aside from the head coach’s role and Gautam Gambhir was appointed as the new head coach. Abhishek Nayar has joined Gambhir as the assent coach of the team.
Meanwhile, Sharma retired from the T20I format after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 and was back for the ODI series against Sri Lanka. He has won over the fans with his aggressive approach while opening the innings in ODI cricket. He was sensational in the ODI World Cup 2023. His aggressive starts helped the team in giving good starts and it eases the pressure off the middle-order batters.
Even on the tough pitches in Sri Lanka, Sharma fared pretty well with the bat. He scored two quick-fire half-centuries in the first two T20I matches. However, the rest of the Indian batters could not sustain the pressure from the Sri Lankan spinners and team India succumbed to a 2-0 defeat.
Rohit Sharma working hard on his fitness for the upcoming matches
Sharma has been trolled very badly in the recent past due to his fitness. The Indian captain is training very hard to keep himself fit and ready for the upcoming season. The majority of the centrally contracted players of the Indian team are participating in the Duleep Trophy. However, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been exempted from it.
The Indian captain will look to perform well in the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh and then against New Zealand. At the end of the year, the Indian Cricket Team under Rohit Sharma will travel to Australia for the all-important Border-Gavaskar Trophy consisting of 5-Test matches Down Under.
