In a recent video, West Indies giant Carlos Brathwaite was seen smashing his helmet with the bat after a disappointing dismissal against Josh Little.
The incident happened in one of the games from Max60 Caribbean, where the New York Strikers took on the Grand Cayman Jaguars in a super-3 match. It shows big-hitting batsman Brathwaite trying to pull Irish pacer Josh Little but edged the ball back to the wicketkeeper.
The umpire too raised his finger; however, Brathwaite believed that the ball hit only on his shoulders and there was no connection with his bat.
As a result, while walking slowly off the ground, the big man from the Caribbean vented out his frustration on the helmet as he hit it with the bat, and the helmet went flying past over the boundaries to the back of the ground.
Here’s a look at the video of the incident:
With the helmet going nearly 3 rows back, it once again highlighted Brathwaite’s power of shot-making.
A peek into Carlos Brathwaite’s international career
The 36-year-old legend has not played even a total of 100 matches in his international career. He made his debut for the West Indies back in 2011 against Bangladesh in the ODI and T20I series.
Though Brathwaite has played for more than 20 global franchises in the shortest format of the game, his career has eclipsed in the last few years.
Carlos Brathwaite’s major success came in 2016 with the West Indies in the T20 World Cup final against England. The West Indies needed 19 runs in the last over and Ben Stokes was given the role to defend it.
Big-hitting all-rounder Brathwaite wreaked havoc at the iconic venue of Eden Gardens as he smashed four consecutive sixes off the first four balls of the English all-rounder. Brathwaite struck with 3 wickets in the English innings, and then alongside Samuels 85*, he scored the vital runs for the West Indies to lift their second T20 World Cup under Darren Sammy. Brathwaite was declared the Man of the Match in the T20 World Cup final.
