The background of the fight between Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq
In the first round match between RCB and LSG in Bengaluru during IPL 2023, RCB was beaten by LSG and the LSG players, including the then team’s mentor Gautam Gambhir, celebrated very aggressively. As Virat Kohli’s nature has been throughout his career, he did not forget the reaction and gave it back during the return leg match in Lucknow.
Kohli was aggressive during his stay on the field and celebrated animatedly on the fall of every LSG wicket. On the field, it sparked a cold fight between Kohli and Naveen. Kohli was seen to point to his shoe while talking to Naveen, which sparked a wide scale fight.
In the post-match customary handshakes, Naveen was seen to highly hold Kohli’s hand tightly and that sparked yet another feud. After the game, a fight between Kohli and Gambhir ensued on the pretext of the feud between Kohli and Naveen-Ul-Haq.
The feud continued on social media as well as Naveen took hilarious digs at Kohli on social media. However, the situation turned very bad for the Afghanistan pacer. From that day onwards, he was trolled and abused brutally everywhere in India with Kohli chants. The situation continued even when Naveen came to India to play in the ODI World Cup 2023, later that year.
However, during the match between India and Afghanistan in the group stage in Delhi, Naveen and Kohli put a full stop on the saga by hugging each other and exchanging smiles. From that point onwards, the reception of the Indian fans towards Naveen changed. The Afghanistan pacer also talked highly of Kohli and was well reciprocated by the former Indian captain as well.
