English batter Joe Root scored his 33rd Test hundred amidst England’s struggling first innings at Lord’s and has broken several records with the innings.

With his innings, he has again earned a special place in the hearts of his spectators. He has been lauded by not only English spectators but all cricket fans, who are great enthusiasts of the game.

Some have purely lauded his skill as a batter and have placed him among one of England’s greatest ever.

Joe Root now has the joint most Test centuries for England alongside former skipper and England’s highest Test run-getter, Alastair Cook. He also inches closer to being England’s all-time highest run-getter. Root has sent a strong message to his fans of his sublime form.

Root, who now has 12,274 runs, is inching closer to overtaking Sri Lankan legend Sangakkara and English legend Alastair Cook by 126 or 198 runs behind, respectively.

With a lot of cricket still left in him as far as the longest format is concerned, he even seems to threaten the likes of the great Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most Test runs. Root can undoubtedly be one of the finest batters in the red ball format amidst a growing craze for cricket in T20 cricket.
