Indian fast bowler, Mayank Yadav, was the find of the IPL season in 2024. The pacer showed his blistering pace while bowling for the Lucknow Super Giants. He was constantly bowling over 152 kmph with proper line and length.
Mayank troubled the batters consistently and picked up wickets to turn the matches for LSG. He returned with bowling figures of 3 for 27 in his debut game against Punjab Kings and bowled a delivery at 155.8 km/h.
In the four matches that he played in IPL 2024, Yadav scalped 4 wickets at an economy rate of 6.99. Former South Africa player and LSG fielding coach, Jonty Rhodes praised Mayank and called him the “Rolls Royce” of the IPL franchise.
“I’m not a bowling coach, but Morne Morkel, during the previous season, when Mayank got injured at the start of the preparation, literally Morne said, ‘Wow, this guy (Mayank Yadav), he’s like the Rolls Royce of bowlers, similar to how we used to call Allan Donald a Rolls Royce. He is LSG’s Rolls Royce.“
“He had a whole season with the team and that’s why the owners decided to keep him with the team, he did all his rehab throughout the IPL, and stayed a part of the unit because we really believe that he is a young guy with extreme talent and we saw him in the games that he played and and everybody was really monitoring him not wrapping him in cotton wool,” Rhodes told IANS.

Mayank suffered an injury and had to be out of the field with a side strain. Later, it was found out that he had a lower abdomen soreness and had to sit out of the remainder of the IPL season. A fast bowler, who has the blistering pace like Yadav and can also bowl emasculate line and length, can be of great use to Team India in international cricket.
Yadav will want to come back stronger and repeat his performances. However, it remains to be seen if LSG does retain him in the upcoming mega auction. However, he can definitely remain as the ‘X’ factor for the side.
