What sparked into the minds of millions of his fans across several platforms would be if Bumrah indicated a return to the game, ending his long break from cricket since the T20 World Cup triumph.

The world’s greatest, as termed by many, was last seen in India’s colours at the T20 World Cup campaign of the Men in Blue in the United States and the Caribbean, earlier, this year. Bumrah played a very crucial role in India’s road to glory.

He was not only his team’s second-highest wicket-taker but was their most economical bowler who pulled almost impossible matches with his stunning accuracy in pace bowling. India thrived in an undefeated season as he rescued the team against Pakistan and then, later, in the final as well when he bowled a spell of 1-6 in his 2 overs, with the opponents needing just 30 off 30 balls.

Jasprit was also named the Player of the Tournament, and the nation and his fans cheered for his glory.

However, the wait to see their master player, the World Cup hero, now seems too long for the people of India, as Bumrah has been rested since the World Cup, which was held 2 months ago- first the Zimbabwe tour and then the tour to Sri Lanka under new coach Gambhir, when all the senior players made a return to ODI except for Burmrah.

If reports are to be believed, Indian selectors have again decided to rest him further even in India’s red ball home series against Bangladesh, as they are on a trial in the upcoming Duleep Trophy to find a replacement for the two greats, Bumrah and Shami, in the longer format.

As a result, 20 fast bowlers have been picked in this season’s Duleep Trophy. Bumrah is likely to make a comeback for India in the home series against New Zealand, and so is Shami, if he is fit.

Agarkar stated that Bumrah has a lot to offer to the team in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, England’s tour to India, and then the ICC Champions Trophy, and hence, considering his hectic schedule ahead, he has been rested to lower his workload.
