Yashasvi Jaiswal reveals what he has learnt from Rohit Sharma

Young opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal, has now become an integral part of the Indian team. Many reckon that he is the upcoming superstar of Indian cricket, looking at the performances that he has had in his short career. Recently, he talked about the Indian captain and his opening partner, Rohit Sharma.

Jaiswal feels it is a privilege to go out and bat with the Indian captain. Jaiswal heaped praise on Hitman’s ability to control the game and understand the nature of the pitch on which the match will be played. Jaiswal further said that he learned the ability to bat as per the situation and the type of wicket from Rohit Sharma’s batting.

“It is an incredible experience whenever I go out and bat with him. He has shared his experiences with me. I think the way he controls the game and understands the wicket, it is spot on and there are a lot of things (to learn from him). You can learn from him things like adjusting your batting to seaming or turning tracks or change your batting when a wicket or two fall,” Jaiswal told reporters on the eve of Duleep Trophy game. ย

Jaiswal feels that he can now adjust his playing style and tempo as per the situation of the game. He has learnt a lot of things about the game in the last one year in international cricket. The Indian young opener said that he was not aware of all these things when he was playing domestic cricket.

However, different situations in international cricket has improved his communication and his ability to read the situations.

“Now, I can see a lot of scenarios and shift my game (accordingly) for the team and read the situations. I think these are very important for me in the last one year. When I was playing domestic cricket, I was not aware of many things. But since I started playing international cricket, the communication and the reading of the game have improved a lot. I just want to keep learning.” Jaiswal added.

Jaiswal is currently featuring in the Duleep Trophy. He will next be seen in the home Test series against Bangladesh, starting from September 19. He also has a big role to play in the 5-match Test series in Australia, later this year.
