Dhruv Jurel

Dhruv Jurel, in a recent feat, has equaled the record of Indian legend MS Dhoni for most grabs in a single match of the Duleep Trophy.

Jurel has been seen representing India A in the ongoing Duleep Trophy, and he took seven grabs in the match across the two innings, including the most vital catches of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, and Musheer Khan. Next to fall were Reddy and Navdeep Saini.

With his sensational glove-work, he equaled the record of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, one of India’s finest ever gloveman. Dhoni achieved the same feat during the early days of his career, as he took 7 catches playing for the East Zone in 2004-05.

Though for Jurel, nothing went well with the bat as he registered scores of 2 and 0 in the first and second innings, respectively.

While India gear up for its upcoming tour against Bangladesh, Jurel might not seal his position as Pant is back and has roared with a stunning knock in the second inning.

Does Jurel stand a chance of finding a place in India’s Test XI?

Dhruv Jurel has been one of India’s recent young sensations with the gloves in hand. Jurel had previously received his maiden Test call-up when India announced squad for the first two Tests against England, earlier, this year. Dhruv Jurel batted well and scored 190 runs across the four innings.

Pant, on the other hand, scored a stunning 34-ball half-century against India A in the second innings. Besides, he did an outstanding job with the gloves as well. In all likelihood, Pant should make his comeback in Test cricket.

Dhruv Jurel, however, could be looked as a back-up wicket-keeping option in the team.
