The left-arm pacer from Tamil Nadu, T Natarajan, has recently revealed that he is avoiding red ball cricket due to his recurrent injuries. He said that it has been four years since he has played red ball cricket. He wants to play the format but the red ball cricket will increase his workload.
He is constantly suffering from knee issues. Hence, to manage his recurrent knee injuries, he has taken a break from red ball cricket.
“It has been almost four years since I played red-ball cricket. It is not that I do not want to play red-ball cricket, but I feel that it makes my workload heavier. Right now, I am avoiding red-ball cricket. When the workload is heavy, I am having issues on my knee. So, I have stopped playing,” said Natarajan.

The last time that Natarajan was seen on the cricket field was in a Tamil Nadu Premier League game for Tirupur Tamizhans. He scalped 12 wickets in the 2024 edition of the tournament, with an economy rate of 7.77, average of 17.50 and became the fourth highest wicket taker in the tournament.
He has played one red ball game for India and that was against Australia in the final Test match at the Gabba in the Border-Gavaskar series in 2020-21. He helped team India win the match in Australia’s fortress and also helped India win that memorable series with figures of 3/78 in the first innings of the Test match.
He wanted to make a comeback in the Tamil Nadu squad for the 2023/24 Ranji Trophy season but had to withdraw due to injury issues. Natarajan has been in a good form in the shortest format of the game and has displayed good performances in the IPL while playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
