[Watch] Shreyas Iyer dismisses Mayank Agarwal in the Duleep Trophy 2024

The Duleep Trophy is currently underway and India A are facing off against India D in the third match of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer grabbed eyeballs, once again, with his spin bowling. At the fag end of the day, he picked up the all important wicket of the captain of India D team, Mayank Agarwal.

Iyer, who is primarily a batter, was elated after picking up a wicket with the ball in hand. He took a low catch off his own bowling to dismiss Mayank Agarwal for a score of 56. Iyer was also the center of trolling after he came into bat wearing a sunglass. The batter became a meme material after he got out for a seven-ball duck.

India A started the day 2 with the score of 288 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Shams Mulani became the first wicket to fall as he missed out on a well-deserved century, scoring 89 runs off 187 balls. In reply, India D were bowled out for 183 runs. India A came to bat again and posted 115 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in their second essay at stumps.

Here’s a look at the video of Shreyas Iyer picking the wicket of Mayank Agarwal:

Shreyas Iyer is enduring a tough time with the bat. He has had an inconsistent run with the bat in international cricket after the ODI World Cup 2023.

He was also dropped from the central contract at the start of the year after he missed out of the semi final game of the Ranji Trophy for Mumbai. Iyer has struggled with technical deficiencies of late, especially against the short ball.

He made mediocre returns in the 2-0 ODI series loss against Sri Lanka as well. The Mumbai batter has not found a place in the squad for the first Test against Bangladesh, starting from September 19 in Chennai. Iyer really has to get going if he does need to resurrect his international career, especially his red ball career.
