England suffered a recent blow as Jos Buttler, the English white-ball skipper, has been ruled out following his calf injury. Hence, Harry Brook, the vice-captain, has been appointed as the stand-in skipper.

England faced a recent double blow as a young, lanky pacer, Josh Hull has also failed to recover from an injury to the quadriceps that he suffered during his red ball debut at Oval.

“England menโ€™s white-ball captain Jos Buttler has been ruled out of the Metro Bank ODI Series against Australia as he continues to recover from a right calf injury,” said the ECB source.

They also remarked that Yorkshire batter and Northern Superchargers skipper Harry Brook has been named as the captain of the ODI team in Jos Buttlerโ€™s absence.

Brook has often been tipped as the deputy to replace Jos Buttler in the future. Brook has the experience of captaincy in the U-19 World Cup when he led England back in 2018 and was also seen as Ollie Popeโ€™s deputy in the Test series against Sri Lanka.

The in-form batting all-rounder is playing a handy role for England in the T20I series with both the bat and ball. He has scored runs at an amazing strike rate and also went on to pick multiple 3-fers.

Now, since Josh Hull has been dropped from the England ODI team, Lancashire batter Livingstone replaces him in the format. The ODI series is to commence on the 19th of September.

Also, ace English pacer Gus Atkinson has been replaced by Olly Stone in the ODI team as a fast bowler. The move has been made to relieve Atkinson from his workload with further red ball action awaiting him in October.
