Indian Cricket Team is set to face Bangladesh Cricket Team in a two-match Test series starting from September 19 in Chennai. India’s ODI and Test captain, Rohit Sharma is set to lead the side in the series. The Hitman is on the cusp of a major record as he just needs 2 more centuries to join the great Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli in a sensational list.
Sharma has currently scored 48 hundreds in international cricket and needs two more centuries to join Kohli and Tendulkar as the third Indian batter to smash 50 hundreds in international cricket. Tendulkar has smashed 100 centuries in his international career, while Kohli stands on 80 international centuries, currently.
Sharma is an integral part of the Indian team as a leader and an opener. His Test career has just sky rocketed since 2019. He led India to a T20 World Cup win in 2024 and retired from the format. He now wants to focus on the other two formats and is certainly eyeing the ICC World Test Championship in 2023/25 after losing the last final to Australia.

Moreover, Sharma is on the brink of yet another record as he has scored 9 centuries in the ICC World Test Championship. If he scores one more century, he will become the first Indian batter to reach 10 centuries in the competition’s history.
India have some important Test matches coming up with two against Bangladesh and three against New Zealand at home. Then, they will travel to Australia for a 5-match Test series in the Border-Gavaskar series.
Rohit Sharma will be looking to clean sweep the five Test matches that they play at home. This will increase their chances of reaching the final of the WTC for the third consecutive time.
