India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, spoke at the the Indian diaspora event at Nassau Coliseum in New York and credited United States for performing really well in the recent T20 World Cup 2024 hosted at the Nassau Cricket Stadium in New York.
He talked about how the presence of many Indian Contingent people in the team helped them to perform really well in the tournament and found the attention from the whole world.
“Some days back here, the T20 World Cup took place. The USA team played so well in that competition. That team had so many Indian people who are living here and their contributions were witnessed by the whole world,” the Indian Prime Minister said.
The Indian Prime Minister has arrived in the country for an official visit of three days where he will participate and engage in bilateral talks with the US-President Joe Biden and participate in the strategic Quad summit. He will also attend the ‘Summit of the Future’ at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
USA put up some good performances in the ICC T20 World Cup in 2024
The team from the USA had a really good competition as they finished in the second spot in the group. They caused a great upset by beating Pakistan in the Super Over. They also pushed India to the wall and displayed their skills and qualified for the Super 8.
In the Super 8, although they lost all their three games, they really pushed South Africa and gave them a scare. They lost the game by just 18 runs while chasing a mammoth total of 195 against the runners-up of this competition.
Saurabh Netravalkar, who also played for India in the U-19 team, exhibited very good performances in the tournament. Harmeet Singh, another former Indian U19 player, starred with his all-round abilities in the tournament. USA captain Monank Patel smashed a half century against Pakistan and helped them to take the game to the Super Over.
