Watch: Mohammed Siraj takes a sensational catch to dismiss Shakib Al Hasan in Kanpur

India arrived at Kanpur after winning the first Test match against Bangladesh. Only 35 overs were bowled in the first day of the second Test and the next two days were washed out due to rain.

On the fourth day, Bangladesh resumed their innings. The Indian bowlers bowled beautifully despite little help from the surface in the morning and restricted Bangladesh batters to 233 in their first innings. One of the highlights of that innings was Mohammed Siraj’s sensational catch to dismiss Shakib Al Hasan.

Ashwin tossed the ball up in the air and invited Shakib to go for the big shot. Shakib stepped out to hit him but got beaten in the air. The bottom hand came off and he lofted the ball in the air. Mohammed Siraj was initially mispositioned at mid-off, with the ball about to drop behind him. But with a stunning display of agility, he arched his back and pulled off an incredible one-handed catch, grabbing the ball from behind. It was just spectacular.

Shakib Al Hasan might have played his last game in Test cricket

This was probably the last time that Shakib came out to bat in Test cricket as he has hinted that he will be retiring from the format after the ongoing Kanpur Test against India. Team India, on the other hand, came out to bat with intent. They want to make a match out of it in the remaining time and potentially get the win for the points in the World Test Championship table.

Captain, Rohit Sharma came out all guns blazing as he and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored the team’s fastest half century in Test cricket history. Rohit Sharma scored 23 runs off 11 balls, while Jaiswal went on to play a sensational knock of 72 runs off 51 balls. India also broke the record of scoring the fast Test hundred in Test cricket. At Tea time on Day 4, India are 138 for the loss of two wickets and they trail Bangladesh by 95 runs.
