Ajay Jadeja shared his recent thoughts on how, despite being of immense value, MS Dhoni would not be retained as the No. 1 player in the side.

MS Dhoni was supposedly predicted to be ending his IPL career ahead of the next edition. It was due to the previous rule of retaining only 4 players from the team of the previous edition. However, after the IPL committee allowed up to six retentions, the chances of MS Dhoni’s retention have resurfaced again.

Now that Dhoni has retired in 2019, he can be treated under the uncapped player category. On this issue, Ajay Jadeja remarks that Dhoni’s ‘value is unquestioned’ and draws his standards to unparalleled levels with others.

“MS Dhoni for sure. There’s no doubt about that, especially because he’s now an uncapped player. He’s done a lot for the team and has no desire to be treated as the No. 1 player on the squad. His value is unquestioned. Ruturaj Gaikwad is the captain, and he’s had a good year, so you’ll hope to retain him as well. Ravindra Jadeja can’t be left out either, so these three, I think, are perfect for them,” Jadeja remarked during an interview with Jio Cinema.

CSK’s Most Probable Players to Be Retained Ahead of the Mega-Auction

With the IPL committee now having allowed 6 total retentions along with the RTM card, teams like CSK have sighed relief as they can now have some of their most crucial players on their bench for the upcoming season.

The foremost name that emerged as a major future aspect for the side is their skipper and star batter Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was a tough competitor for Virat Kohli in the race for most runs in the competition.

Also, veteran Indian all-rounder and CSK’s best fielder, Ravindra Jadeja, emerged as their second player to be retained. Also, Mateesha Pathirana has been an asset to the side and might continue as the future of the Super Kings side.

MS Dhoni can be the last ideal player to be retained as well, though the likes of players like Shivam Dube and Devon Conway also remain vital cogs and might also be retained.
