Sarfaraz Khan, the batter from Mumbai, wrote his name in the history books, on Wednesday, when he became the first Mumbai batter to score a double century in the Irani Cup. Mumbai faced Rest Of India in the Irani cup and Sarfaraz came in to bat after the wicket of Shreyas Iyer.

He brought up his double century in just 253 deliveries. Before that, he reached his century in just 149 balls. During his innings, Sarfaraz also stitched together a partnership of 131 runs with Ajinkya Rahane.

His score surpassed the previous highest by a Mumbai batsman in the Irani Cup, which was 195 by Ramnath Parkar in 1972. This performance makes him the fourth-youngest to score a double century in the Irani Cup. It has highlighted his place among cricketing prodigies.

His innings helped Mumbai post a substantial total, putting them in a commanding position against the Rest of India. By the end of the second day, Mumbai were at 536/9. Mumbai have been dominant led by Sarfaraz’s bat.

The cricketing community, as reflected through posts on ‘X’ and various articles, celebrated this achievement, noting not only the skill but also the mental fortitude required to score such runs under pressure.
