Harry Brook set the record for the second-fastest Test triple-century since India’s Virender Sehwag, who held the record of the fastest triple hundred.
England is playing the opening Test against Pakistan at the Multan Cricket Stadium. Harry Brook and Joe Root batted stunningly during the second innings. Brook reached the iconic milestone for the first time in his career in a record fastest 310 balls.
Sehwag’s record fastest Test triple hundred came in 2008 against South Africa in Chennai. Brook, while achieving a similar feat, amazed all with his 28 fours and 3 sixes. Brook’s innings finally were drawn to an end, with an impressive 317 runs in just 322 balls, which took England over to an 800+ total in the first inning.

The Pakistan innings seemed a confident performance from their end, but only until England maestro Joe Root and Harry Brook started rewriting the record book with their stunning performances.
Brook became the first ever cricketer in 34 years to score a triple hundred. He reached the milestone post-lunch on Day 4 of the first test between England and Pakistan.
The previous records were broken by Joe Root when he first surpassed 5000+ WTC runs on Day 2 of the first Test. The next day marked Root changing the course of the game as he went past the likes of legend Alastair Cook to emerge as England’s highest run-getter in the longest format of the game.
Root now has 12664 runs as he surpassed the previous highest from the former English skipper, who had 12472 runs in the red-ball format. He also scored his 35th Test hundred, followed by his 6th test double-century, which took him past the likes of Cook once again for the most number of Test double-hundreds for England.
Harry Brook also hit his maiden double hundred before lunch, declaring a statemental presence of Brook, who alongside Root pulled off a record-shattering 454-run stand for the 4th wicket. After Root went for 262 runs, Brook seemed to press onto the accelerator as he doubled the scoring rate and backed himself with a maiden triple hundred.
This was a historic feat, as, since Graham Gooch in 1990, this was the first ever triple hundred scored by an English batter, as he achieved the milestone in 2024, breaking a 34-year-long jinx. Even the likes of the greatest English batters like Vaughan, Cook, and Root have not achieved this great feat.
