Australian veteran spinner, Nathan Lyon took to the field for the New South Wales in the Sheffield Shield in Sydney, but it was not in the most traditional way as one would expect.
Nathan Lyon was seen looking in the bushes in search of a ball that was smashed out of the park when the South Australia batting unit was playing their innings. Lyon who went in hunt for a red-cherry ball which they were playing with got hands on a white ball instead.
Lyon stood there holding the white ball, while the street players matched a common vibe as theirs. Like the gully cricketers, he seemed to have kept the ball whichever he found, even if it didnโt belong to him.
Lyon, so far, has had a wonderful season to start his campaign at the Sheffield Shield, as he picked a 5-for in the first innings against South Australia. He then went on to pick another wicket in the second innings as well. The young and inspiring opener, Sam Konstas was the pick among the batters, as the opener managed to score centuries across both innings.
Aussies are preparing for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy
India is about to take their ride off to the Australian islands and the Aussies are targeting to end their long stint of losses. Lyon will be an asset for the Aussies if they look to reclaim their lost honour in the history of the tournament.
The leading wicket-taker for Australia in modern-day Test cricket will be essential when it comes to playing against India. He will also compete with his nearest competitor i.e., Indian spinner Ravi Ashwin.
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be played from 2024 to 2025, which will be initiated from the 22nd of November and will continue till January 7th, next year. The venues chosen for the five-match series include Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, respectively.
