Shaheen Shah Afridi reportedly calls Babar Azam with 'Zimbu' remarks during the first Test against England

Pakistan Cricket are at their absolute lowest currently. They suffered a humiliating defeat in the first Test match against England in Multan.

A viral video from the game has been making rounds where Shaheen Shah Afridi is heard calling Babar Azam with ‘Zimbu’ remarks. Azam is generally trolled in social media with this term for scoring maximum of his runs against Zimbabwe only.

Babar Azam has been struggling very badly with his batting form especially in the Test format. It has been 18 innings since he last scored a fifty in Test cricket.

He was left exposed yet again in the two innings of the first Test match against England where he departed cheaply on a wicket which had nothing for the bowlers.

Babar Azam is struggling with runs

He last scored a century in international cricket during the 2023 Asia Cup opener against Nepal. Babar has been criticised for his batting form and is facing trolls for not standing up when the team needs him the most. Pakistan, meanwhile, lost the first Test match against England by an innings and 47 runs.

However, captain Shan Masood still backed Babar and expects him to come good soon.He said that Babar is Pakistan’s best batter and he is just one game away from coming back to form.

“We want to build a squad mentality. We don’t play a lot of Test cricket. Especially as a batter, it is not easy. You have to give a lot of opportunities, and there is no doubt that Babar Azam is Pakistan’s best batter. You always have to keep in mind that your best batter is just one game away. We will reflect and see the conditions that will be on offer. We will try to put the best team on the side,” Masood said in the post-match press conference.
