Pakistan Women's cricket Team dropped eight catches in the game against New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2024

Bad fielding has always been synonymous with the Pakistan Cricket Team. They have been always related and linked to missing sitters, not being able to take the simplest of catches. It is not just associated with their men’s team but also the Women’s cricket team. They have stunned the world with their poor display of fielding on numerous occasions on the cricket field.

During the match between Pakistan and New Zealand in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, the Pakistan team dropped as many as eight catches. Kiwis were able to score 110 runs for the loss of six wickets.

If Pakistan has taken those catches and displayed better fielding efforts, then they would have restricted the Kiwis to a lesser score. However, the majority of the Pakistan fielders were disappointing with their efforts on the field.

Suzie Bates (28), Brooke Halliday (22), Sophie Devine (19) and Georgia Plimmer (17) were the ones who shone with the bat. Nashra Sandhu took three wickets with the ball for Pakistan and Sadia Iqbal, Nida Dar and Omaima Sohail scalped one wicket each.

New Zealand managed to win the contest by 54 runs and have marched into the semi final of the World Cup. If Pakistan would have won, then India would have qualified. Pakistan got skittled for just 56 runs in 11.4 overs.

Fatima Sana, the captain of the Pakistan team, said:

“We were good in the bowling but we need to improve our fielding and batting. We were not up to the mark in batting and the seniors need to step up in that kind of matches. As a bowling unit we were up to the mark, but we need to improve in batting, otherwise we can’t survive in women’s cricket.”

Meanwhile, New Zealand and Australia are the two teams that have qualified from the Group A in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.
