As per a report by PTI, IPL franchise Delhi Capitals have made a clear indication to not retain more than three players, with the most likely players being Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav.

With the IPL retention rules being announced, this time around the IPL governing committee, despite increasing the purse amount, has abided by a huge amount for the players who are to be retained by their sides before the auction.

With franchises looking to retain the best of their players, the Delhi Capitals would also be in the quest to do the same. The Capitals have parted ways with their former head coach Ricky Ponting and are currently also in search of a new coaching unit.

The reports suggest that the Capitals’ Indian trio, comprising the skipper Pant, the likes of ace all-rounder Axar Patel, and spinner Kuldeep Yadav, is also likely to be retained for 18 Crores, 14 Crores and 11 Crores respectively, all three being an eminent part of India’s World Cup campaign.

The recent reports are luring over only the likes of three Indian World Cup-winning players being retained by the Capitals ahead of the mega-auction in 2024. This suggests that every possible overseas player is to be released.

Delhi Capitals have a very fancy bunch of overseas players. The likes of veteran David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Anrich Nortje, and the two rising stars of international cricket, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Tristian Stubbs, would also be released.

Fraser-McGurk and Stubbs set the IPL 2024 on fire with some of their most splendid innings, as both these batters often played some big innings, striking constantly at a rate over nearly 250-300.

Also, Warner and Marsh remain one of the biggest power-hitters who can excel in the top order for any side, and hence even these players would be of immense value.

Nortje was one of the biggest strike bowlers in the last T20 World Cup and would be targeted by many such players who are in the quest for the finest of pace bowlers.
