India’s veteran pacer Mohammed Shami has given an update on his return from injury. Shami has stated that he is pain free now and wants to bowl a lot more overs before the start of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.

The veteran pacer said that he wants to play 1-2 Ranji Trophy games before the start of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Mohammad Shami said,

“I am pain free now. I want to make sure I bowl enough before going to Australia. And for that I’m targeting 1-2 Ranji games”. (Revsportz).

Mohammed Shami has been an integral part of the longer formats for India. He has an impeccable seam presentation and is disciplined with his line and length which allows him to seam the ball in any condition.

Shami will be very important for India to perform in Australia. He is the leader of the Indian bowling attack along with Jasprit Bumrah. He and Bumrah needs to have a say in Australia if India wants to win the BGT yet again.

Mohammed Shami has been out of the cricket field since the ODI World Cup in 2023

Shami has not been on the cricket field since his heroic performances in the ODI World Cup 2023 in India due to ankle injury. He had a surgery and had to miss plenty of matches. Just a few days ago, Shami reacted very strongly against rumours and reports which stated that he might miss the Border-Gavaskar trophy in Australia.

Meanwhile, the veteran pacer said: “The only thing on my mind is to ensure that I am fit and how strong I can be for the Australia series. I can see what kind of attack we need in Australia. I have to spend more time on the ground.”

It remains to be seen if Shami does get fit on time to be part of the five match Test series against Australia Down Under.
