Indian coach Gautam Gambhir firmly addressed the growing criticism surrounding KL Rahul’s spot in the playing XI in a press conference. He backed the experienced batter despite all the social media criticism and expert analysis.

He thrashed social media experts by stating team decisions are not influenced by online opinions and It is not important what social media or experts think. Gambhir backed Rahul, by describing his good knock in Kanpur.

Gambhir mentioned that the team management is looking to back him and make him want to score big runs.

“Social media doesn’t decide playing XI. It is not important what social media or experts think, it is important what team management thinks. He had a decent knock in a tough Kanpur pitch. Yes, he would want to score big runs. And this team management is looking to back him.” Gambhir said in a press conference ahead of the second Test.

Pant and Gill are fit to start, says Gautam Gambhir

According to the press conference, Gautam Gambhir stated that Rishabh Pant is fit and ready to start the second Test against New Zealand. He was seen doing wicketkeeping in nets and will keep the wickets in Pune.

โ€œShubman Gill was injured in the last game. Due to the injury, he couldnโ€™t play, but he has been in great touch now.โ€ said Gautam Gambhir.

As per reports, Gill was seen batting in nets alongside Virat Kohli, who is looking for a three-digit score, after getting out for 70 in the first Test.
