On this day on October 23, 2022, Virat Kohli showed why he is the King of world cricket. In the group stage high profile match against Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in the T20 World Cup 2022, the former Indian captain put his hands up under pressure and probably played the greatest knock played in T20I cricket’s history. He smashed 82 runs off 53 balls under pressure to bail out a match for India which was long gone.

Just after two years, when the video of his innings was going around on X, Swiggy scripted a perfect Tweet to troll Pakistan. The brand replied to the video and wrote: “Rumor has it that PCT hasn’t eaten cheekus since this day.”

Team India were chasing 160 runs target to win that game and they were rocked back very early on in the game. The Men In Blue were once tottering at 31-4 in the first seven overs itself, when Hardik Pandya joined hands with Virat Kohli at the crease.

The duo were under tremendous pressure as they had to resurrect the innings and also manage the fast climbing required run rate. In the initial stage of the partnership, Pandya took the charge while hitting the sixes while Kohli ticked the scoreboard at the other end.

When 48 runs were needed to win off 18 balls against a star studded Pakistani bowling attack on a big ground like the MCG, the former Indian captain stepped up to show who is the boss. When India need 28 runs off 8 deliveries, Kohli hit two sixes off Haris Rauf which will etched in the minds of the Indian fans all throughout their life.

The first shot was a straight big six off the back foot which was a sensational strike and the next one was a six towards fine leg using the pace of Rauf. Those two sixes turned the game in India’s favour and the rest of the things were done in the final over against Mohammed Nawaz.
