Chennai Super Kings have likely made a hint towards their player retention options ahead of the mega-auction. The highly anticipated retention of MS Dhoni as an uncapped player also knocks on the doors.
There was a huge buzz regarding whether MS Dhoni will be retained by the Chennai Super Kings any further, and after the new retention rules have a green signal to the legendโs retention as an uncapped player, no one seemed merrier than the CSK fans.
However, until yesterday there remained a stir over social media on the probable availability of MS Dhoni, as the 43-year-old had made nothing official from his end.
Latest reports from Cricbuzz on the eve of 26th October have brought a sigh of relief for the Chennai fans, as their idol, the โThalaโ or โLeaderโ in Tamil, as he is often referred to as MS Dhoni, is all set to feature for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025.
Alongside Dhoni, CSK likely to retain three players
The most successful franchise in IPL history is set to retain the likes of veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja as their first priority retention option, followed by the retention of their skipper from the previous edition, Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Jadeja has been a part of the franchise since 2012, the first ever time when the Chennai Super Kings brought him in for a whopping amount from the Royals. Since then, he has not parted ways with the franchise.
Gaikwad is their only recognised batter to have been a consistent performer since his impactful debut in the 2021 season. The only retention among overseas players remains Matheesha Pathirana, the Lankan pacer, who has become a force under Dhoniโs guidance.
