The IPL 2025 mega auction is around the corner as it will be held on November 24 and 25 in Riyadh. Former England fast bowler, James Anderson has registered for the auction and is keen to play cricket yet again.
Anderson had been playing only Test cricket in the last eight or nine years. So, he wants to get a taste of T20 cricket by getting picked in the IPL auction for the first time. The 42-year-old feels that he has a lot to offer to the teams.
“The whole point of going in the auction, I think, I want to play cricket again. Whether I get picked up or not is a different matter. There’s definitely a feeling inside of me that I’ve got more to offer, in some shape or form. So, however long down the line that might be, in whatever capacity that might be I’m not sure yet “, Anderson said to Sky Sports.
He feels that he is still fit and bowling well. So, he wants to play cricket anywhere if possible and the IPL will altogether be a different opportunity for him given that he has been playing the longest format of the game for such a long time. Anderson also added that he has not been contacted by any franchise as of yet but he is keeping his hopes high of getting picked up at the auction.
Chennai Super Kings might target James Anderson in the IPL 2025 mega auction
Reports say that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) might be the franchise who could pick Anderson up at the auction as a player plus bowling coach given that Dwayne Bravo has moved to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as the new mentor of the side after Gautam Gambhir became India’s new Head Coach.
Anderson has played 188 Test matches and scalped 704 wickets at an average of 26.45. He has featured in 19 T20Is and has scalped 18 wickets at an average of 30.66 with an economy rate of 7.84. The pacer has also played 44 T20s, picked up 41 wickets at an average of 32.14 with an economy rate of 8.47. The Englishman has great control over his line and length and can swing the new ball up-front.
