Team India and Australia are currently playing against each other in the first of the five-match Test series in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25 at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Former Indian cricketer, Irfan Pathan, has taken a subtle dig against the pitch used in this Test between the two sides.
He took to X and wrote, “Itna jaldi to meri wife ka mood bhi change nahi hota jitni jaldi ye pitch badli hai (My wife’s mood does not change this fast compared to Perth’s surface).” He also posted the picture of the greenish pitch on the first day of the Test and bare wicket on the second day of the test match.
Indian captain, Jasprit Bumrah, won the toss and elected to bat first. The team was bowled out for 150 runs on the first day. The Aussie pacers were excellent on the wicket that provided ample support for the pace bowlers. However, the Indian bowlers led by Bumrah were sensational as they reduced the Australians to 69/7 at the end of Day 1.

On day 2, Australia were bowled out for 104 runs. 20 wickets fell in the first one and half days of the Test match. However, the Indian openers, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal, stitched together a 172 runs partnership in the second innings on Day 2. As the day progressed, the wicket eased out and the help for the pacers continued to get reduced. India now have a lead of 218 runs going into the Day 3.
Team India will try to bat deep into the third day and wait for the cracks to open up. It is expected that the pitch will yet again change under the hot sun and there will be variable bounce on the wicket as the Test match progresses. Australia are in a very pressure situation in this Test match.
