Team India are facing off against Australia in the first of the five-match Test series in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25 at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed a brilliant hundred and was finally dismissed on 161 runs off 297 balls. Virat Kohli is slowly finding his touch back on Day 3. However, an unfortunate incident happened during the third day’s play in Perth.
On the fifth ball of the 101st over, Mitchell Starc bowled short and wide. Kohli flashed hard at the ball, played an upper-cut and it flew for a six. However, the ball kicked off after falling behind the boundary and it hit the steward on the side of his head. Kohli himself was concerned as the ball had hit the steward on his head. The Aussie players were concerned as Nathan Lyon ran up to the steward to check on him.
The Australian physio also ran up to him to check on him and started doing the concussion tests. However, he looked fine after the tests. A cricket ball hitting someone’s head is deeply concerning. It’s not just about the immediate pain; there’s a real risk of concussions or more severe brain injuries. The sound of the impact alone is enough to make anyone wince.

India are in a dominant position in the Perth Test
Meanwhile, at the time of writing, India were 359/5 in the second innings and had a lead of 405 runs. Along with Jaiswal, KL Rahul scored 77 runs and both of them have taken India to a dominant position in this Test match. Although the pitch on the second and third day has looked easy to bat on, there has been variable bounce on the wicket on Day 3 and hence it will get interesting as the Test match progresses. Australia are already on the back foot and India will look to increase their agony.
