Indian women cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues, who is a part of Brisbane Heat in the Women’s Big Bash League, got involved in a lighthearted moment before the Challenger match between Heat and Thunders. She was found mimicking the legendary commentator Ravi Shastri during the toss presentation in WBBL 2024.
Jemimah has been a crucial player for the Brisbane Heat in this year’s tournament, showcasing her consistency and power-hitting ability. In nine matches, she has scored 266 runs at an impressive average of 38 and a strike rate of 142.24, making her one of the standout performers of the season.
In a humorous incident, Jemimah Rodrigues was seen mimicking Ravi Shastri, the former cricketer and iconic commentator, leaving everyone in splits with her spot-on imitation. Her playful personality off the field continues to endear her to fans, adding to her charm as a celebrated cricketer.
The video of this hilarious moment quickly went viral on social media platforms, garnering widespread attention and leaving fans and followers thoroughly entertained by Jemimah’s lively antics.
In the video, She stated,
โLadies and gentlemen, itโs toss time here at the AB Field, bright and sunny! In the teal corner, we have Jess Jonassen. And in the green corner, we have the youngster, Phoebe Litchfield. And the match referee is Keplerโtried and tested! So, the news out in the center is Jess Jonassen has won the flip, and she decides to bowl first. This is Jemmy Shastri signing off.”
During the game between Sydney Thunder and Brisbane Heat, Jemi Rodrigues left the field having made 43 from 30 balls. She was forced to retire hurt after the tenth over of the chase due to an aggravated left wrist injury, initially sustained earlier in the match while attempting to save a boundary during the Thunder’s innings. While batting, Rodrigues appeared increasingly uncomfortable at the crease, particularly after jamming her bat down on a yorker delivered by seamer Taneale Peschel.
As per the reports, Jemi Rodrigues’ availability for Sunday’s final at the MCG between Heat and Melbourne Renegades is doubtful.
