Team India registered a historic win by 295 runs in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25 at the Optus Stadium in Perth. They were riding high on the win but suffered a devastating loss in the second Test at the Adelaide Oval with the Pink ball.
The series is tied at 1-1 with three matches to play. The next Test match will start on December 14 at the Gabba in Brisbane. The wicket is one of the bounciest and fastest in the world. Australians have always maintained a strong hold in this Test match. However, India did breach the fortress in the last tour in 2020-21.
Meanwhile, veteran India batter, Cheteshwar Pujara, who was a strong presence in the Gabba Test match in BGT 2020-21, has revealed how India can bounce back in the third Test. Pujara went on to say that India’s batting has been the point of concern and they will need to bat well at the Gabba. Moreover, they will need to make special plans to get Travis head dismissed early in the test match.
What did Cheteshwar Pujara say?
Pujara said, “We will have to improve our batting, our bowling is good but the gameplan against Travis Head has to improve. We have to put the Adelaide defeat behind and make a fresh start in the series and repeat the first Test’s performance.”
Head has been the thorn in the way of India with his aggressive batting in the last two years. He counterattacked and scored 140 runs in the first innings of the Adelaide Test match to take the game away from India’s grasp. India’s batters failed collectively with the bat and were dismissed for 180 in the first innings and 175 in the second.
Australia suffered their first defeat at the Gabba in a Test match since 1988 in the last BGT 2020-21. Then West Indies defeated Australia in a Pink ball Test at the Gabba. Hence, the Australian players want to play at the Gabba at the start of the summer.
