The 25-year-old Prithvi Shaw burst onto the Indian cricketing scene as a prodigious talent who was going to be the next big thing in Indian and world cricket. Shaw had enormous talent but has had a huge downfall in his career due to his lack of fitness and work ethic. He has been sidelined from the national team and now is getting into trouble while getting selected for his domestic team as well. Recently, he went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
An MCA official stated that during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, they were essentially playing with only 10 fielders because they had to hide Shaw. They mentioned that the ball would pass close to him, and he would hardly try to reach it. The official also criticized Shaw’s fitness, discipline, and attitude, emphasizing that there cannot be different rules for different players.
“In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, we were playing with 10 fielders as we were forced to hide Prithvi Shaw. The ball would pass near him, and he would barely make an effort to get to it. His fitness, discipline, and attitude are poor. There cannot be different rules for different play,” the MCA official had said.
What did Jatin Paranjape say about Prithvi Shaw?
However, former Indian cricketer Jatin Paranjape has slammed the MCA official and defended Shaw after the comment. He is unhappy with the loose comments from the MCA official and alleged that they are not ready to help the 25-year-old.
“Such loose comments from sources within the MCA are truly unfortunate. Looks like they are not interested in helping Shaw out. What do they mean by “babysit”? This will definitely be his last season as a Mumbai player,” Jatin Paranjape tweeted.
The MCA official even stated that the seniors in the team were angry with the attitude of Shaw and had been complaining about it. Shaw is again in the news for sharing a cryptic post after the statement. The 25-year-old claimed that people should not speak on things without understanding the full context and the event.
“If you don’t understand it fully, don’t speak on it. Too many people have full opinions, with half the facts. Friyay,” Shaw posted.
