Ahead of the Boxing Day test in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, several players from the Aussie side attended a media session in which they shared their opinions on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the International Cricket Council (ICC), and Indian cricket.
Several players, like Usman Khawaja and Travis Head, had some quirky replies that seemed humorous or even diplomatic; however, veteran batter Steve Smith’s answers took the internet by fire.
While most of the Aussies described these bodies either as powerful or the powerhouse, Steven Smith made an unexpected claim as he answered that the ICC is ‘not as powerful’; however, immediately claiming it to be a joke, he revised his answer to the ICC being the ‘leaders.’.

During the growth of Indian cricket, the BCCI has also become the financial and administrative powerhouse in world cricket. From the most revolutionary franchise-level T20 cricket tournament to hosting the biggest ICC events, the BCCI has emerged as the biggest sporting organization.
Hence the BCCI now receives accolades and praise from players around the world, while former BCCI president Jay Shah recently went on to become the ICC chairman, the youngest to have aced the role.
Since Shah’s appointment in the role, he concluded the decision made over the neutral venue of the Champions Trophy, where matches for India are shifted to a neutral venue in the UAE, keeping the sides of both BCCI and PCB.
