During the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia, batters such as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma haven’t made a significant impact with the bat. Rohit Sharma is seeming to be out of form since a long period of time, whereas Virat Kohli scored a 100 in the first Test. Cheteshwar Pujara opened up on the recent form of both the batters.

The Test series between India and Australia is currently leveled at 1-1 after the thrilling conclusion of the third match, which unfortunately ended as a draw due to multiple stoppages caused by rain. With the World Test Championship final on the line, the remaining two Test matches are poised to be intense battles, as both India and Australia will look to outperform each other to secure their spot in the prestigious final.

Virat Kohli started his Australian tour on a high by scoring a century in the first Test match at Perth, but has struggled since then. He has been repeating the same mistakes again and again, particularly by chasing wide deliveries outside off-stump and falling prey to the Australian pacers’ well-planned traps

Indian captain Rohit Sharma has been struggling a lot in the Australian conditions, finding it challenging to adapt to the extra bounce and lateral movement on offer. His inability to convert starts into big scores has added pressure on the lower order. In the 2 matches, he has scored only 19 runs batting at number 6. Cheteshwar Pujara, who has been a part of the Indian Test setup for a long time, talked about the batting of his compatriots.

He stated, “They have been a little bit out of form. Virat has scored a hundred, so probably one can say that he is maybe back in form. But Rohit has been struggling a bit to find that form. To score runs, one has to spend enough time at the crease.”

“One needs to ensure that first 20 minutes to half an hour is important for any batter, when they walk into bat and it is important to play shots on the merit of the ball. There are times where they are looking for the boundaries, specially early in the innings. As long as they try and have perfection in their game, but you have to execute those things in the game. So i hope that the execution becomes slightly better.” Cheteshwar Pujara added while talking about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
