AUS vs IND: Team India are bracing up for the fourth Test match against Australia at the MCG on December 26. The team management are set to make some big changes going into the fourth test. Captain Rohit Sharma is set to be back in his opening spot, which means KL Rahul will bat at number three. There is no update on where Shubman Gill will bat in this Test match.
Most likely, Gill will bat at number five or number six in this Test match. India are set to play two spinners in the form of Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja in this Test match. So, in all likelihood, Nitish Kumar Reddy is set to be dropped from the playing XI in this Test match.
India have to win the Boxing Day Test at the MCG to keep their hopes of their qualification to the WTC 2025 Final alive. If India go on to win the next two Tests at the MCG and the SCG, they will qualify for the final without depending on others. However, if they do win one out of the remaining two Test matches, they will retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Australia have not won the BGT since 2014-15. They have lost four on the trot (2 at home and 2 away from home).
AUS vs IND: Australia and India will face off at the MCG for the Boxing Day Test
India won the first Test match in Perth by 295 runs, and Australia came back strongly by winning the second Test match in Adelaide by 10 wickets. They were also in the driver’s seat at the Gabba, but rain and India’s last wicket partnership to avoid follow-on made sure that the match ended in a draw. The Indian captain, Sharma, missed the first Test due to the birth of baby boy and was back in the second Test. However, he has had a disaster run with the bat. Moreover, India have not won the last five Test matches under his captaincy.
