Australian pacer Mitchell Starc and young Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal have had a fair rivalry in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The rivalry started in Perth when Jaiswal in the second inning called out to Starc, saying, ‘He is coming too slow at him.’.
The remake immediately caught the attention of fans, as making such a vile comment on one of the greatest fast bowlers of the modern day seemed a very audacious move. However, after the Perth test, Starc had the upper hand over Jaiswal as he dismissed him in the most conventional fashions over repeated instances.
Yashasvi Jaiswal again took guard of the wicket and was back in commanding form during the Boxing Day test at Melbourne, when he scored double 80s in both innings of the match, which India eventually lost.
After a bad show in the first inning, Jaiswal encountered Starc again in the first over of the second inning. This time around, Jaiswal kept smashing boundaries in the very first over of Starc as he pressed on the accelerator, thus giving India a start with 16 runs in the very first over.
Scott Boland dismisses both Indian openers to put India under pressure
Scott Boland has been Australia’s finest replacement pacer, as he has often replaced the likes of Australia’s third pacer, Josh Hazlewood.
Boland has played in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy of 2024/25 on three occasions, with his first outing in the pink ball Test, where the bowler took 5 crucial wickets. Boland in MCG looked even more threatening as he picked up six wickets in the match.
Boland has had the upper hand over the Indian openers; after Jaiswal and Rahul scored some vital runs first up. He cleaned them up in successive overs and turned the tables once again for the Aussies.
