The IPL franchises have already released the names of the players that they have retained ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Royal Challengers Bangalore have retained Virat Kohli for Rs 21 crore, Rajat Patidar for Rs 11 crore and uncapped player Yash Dayal for Rs 5 crore.
Now former RCB player, AB de Villiers, has named the four players he wants RCB to buy in the upcoming auction. He wants the team management to sign Yuzvendra Chahal along with Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
RCB have three Right-To-Match cards to use in the auction. They have not retained star players with the likes of Mohammed Siraj, Glenn Maxwell, Faf du Plessis and Cameron Green. The franchise has an ample amount of Rs 83 crore available from the total Rs 120 crore cap to use in the upcoming mega auction.
AB de Villiers wants players who are street smart for RCB
De Villiers wants these four players in the team on priority and use the rest of the money smartly. He wants RCB to go for Mohammed Shami if they don’t get Rabada and if they still fail to get Shami, then he wants them to make a move for the young Indian T20I bowler Arshdeep Singh.
“My four priority players are Yuzvendra Chahal, Kagiso Rabada, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Ravi Ashwin. We can make a plan with the rest of the money we have left in the auction. If you can’t get Rabada, I get hold of Mohammed Shami. If you can’t get him, get hold of Arshdeep Singh. So there’s lots of options,” de Villiers said on his YouTube channel.
De Villiers wants the franchise to forget about the trophy and build a team with players who are street smart, can bowl to plans and have a good understanding of how the T20I game works.
The franchise have not won an IPL trophy since its inception. They are looking to bring back Kohli as the captain of the side in the upcoming season. He stepped down from captaincy after IPL 2021 and du Plessis led the team for the next three seasons.
