All the franchises have announced their retention list on October 31, 2024. Punjab Kings (PBKS) decided to retain their two uncapped players Shashank Singh (5.5 cr) and Prabhsimran Singh (4 cr). Fans were surprised that they did not retain Arshdeep Singh and Sam Curran. Arshdeep has been an incredible performer for the franchise and also been a regular feature in the T20I team for Team India.
Arshdeep has played in 65 matches for the Punjab Kings since 2019 and has picked up 75 wickets for the franchise. Through his performances in the IPL, he earned a call up to the Indian T20I team and also helped them win the ICC T20 World Cup in 2024. Despite such good performances, he was not retained and this might have stunned the player.
Arshdeep has unfollowed Punjab Kings on his Instagram profile and removed all the posts, reels and highlights of Punjab Kings from his Instagram account. Reports say that PBKS might not use the Right-To-Match (RTM) to get Arshdeep in the IPL 2025 mega auction. The auction will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 (Sunday) and November 25 (Monday).
