On September 8, 2024, the BCCI announced the squad for the upcoming 1st Test between India and Bangladesh starting from September 19. Left-arm pacer, Yash Dayal, has earnt his first call-up to the national team. The team will be led by Rohit Sharma and all the senior players are part of the squad. The team is set to play two Test matches followed by 3 T20Is against Bangladesh.
Rishabh Pant makes his comeback into the red-ball team for the first time after his injury in a car crash in December 2022. Dhrub Jurel, who made his Test debut in the home series against England earlier this year, is the other wicketkeeper-batter in the squad.
Veteran, Virat Kohli, is also making his return back to the Test side. He missed the last 5-match Test series at home against England as he was with his wife Anushka Sharma, for the birth of his son.
Mohammed shami has not made his comeback in the Indian Test team for the first Test match against Bangladesh
Fast bowler Mohammed shami, who has been recovering from an injury since the breathtaking ODI World Cup 2023 performance, is not in the squad yet. Earlier, Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar, mentioned that Shami might be part of the Test squad against Bangladesh.
Chennai will be the venue for the first Test match of the series while Kanpur will serve as the venue for the second test match between the two sides.
India lost the their last international series by a margin of 2-0 which was an ODI series against Sri Lanka away from home.Â
On the other hand, Bangladesh whitewashed Pakistan 2-0 away from their home.
