England Test captain, Ben Stokes, was involved in a hilarious moment with his doppelgรคnger on Day 3 of the first Test match between England and Sri Lanka at the Old Trafford Cricket Stadium in Manchester. Ben Stokes’ lookalike was spotted watching the game on the stands when the camera was directed at him. When he came to know that the focus is on him, he stood up with a thumbs up gesture.
Stokes, who is not playing in this series, was sitting inside the dressing room. He saw his lookalike on the giant screen and also gave him a thumbs up. Then the doppelgรคnger stood up, turned back and displayed his ‘Stokesey’ name on the back of his jersey. Stokes burst into smiles seeing his lookalike in the stands.
Ben Stokes ruled out of Test series against Sri Lanka due to injury
Ben Stokes has been ruled out of the ongoing three-match Test series against Sri Lanka. He suffered a hamstring injury during The Hundred Mens Competition 2024 while playing for the Northern Superchargers. Ollie Pope is serving as the Test captain in absence of Stokes.
The official statement from ECB read:
โEngland Men’s Test Captain Ben Stokes has been ruled out for the rest of the summer after tearing his left hamstring while playing for Northern Superchargers in The Hundred on Sunday. As a result of the scans conducted in Leeds on Tuesday, Stokes will miss England’s three-match Rothesay Test series against Sri Lanka, which begins at Emirates Old Trafford on Wednesday, 21 August.”
โThe all-rounder is aiming to return for England’s winter Test tour of Pakistan, scheduled to start in early October. The tour includes three Test matches in Multan, Karachi, and Rawalpindi,โ the statement further added.
