There has been an immense buzz over what will be the new guidelines provided by the BCCI regarding the retention as well as RTM card rules in the IPL. Reports have suggested that the IPL committee has not kept a bar on the retention of the no. of Indian or overseas players to be retained.
Alongside this, they have also reported that the mega-auction might be seeing a first-time whopping net worth, which can go up as high as 115-120 crores for the IPL mega-auction 2025.
However, nothing has been confirmed on how many of these players are Indian players or how many among the overseas can be retained. The IPL governing body has given a go-to on the five retention options, as 75 crores will be used for the purpose, while 120 crores is the purse amount.
The RTM option of Right To Match provides a retention option for an already released player into the auction, as they can be drafted back into the side at a final bid price raised on the auction table.
Several IPL franchises have many new mentors in the role
The foremost and the most trending among them, recently, was Dwayne Bravo, who made his move from Chennai Super Kings to the new role of a Kolkata Knight Riders mentor as he filled in the place of the veteran Gautam Gambhir, who won it with the Knight Riders in 2024.
Some weeks ago, the ex-Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting, who gave up his role in the Capitals camp, was roped in by the Punjab Kings for an extended period of time.
India’s World Cup-winning coach Rahul Dravid was announced as the new mentor for the Rajasthan Royals as he is likely to be replaced by the great Kumara Sangakkara, who gave prominent results with the Royals’ side.
Teams like Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals also have to fill their major voids before the IPL, as Yuvraj Singh has often been a name that surfaced in the role of a probable coach for the Titans team.
