In match number 23 of Delhi Premier League, South Delhi Superstarz faced off against North Delhi Strikers at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
South Delhi won the toss and elected to bat first. What happened next in 20 overs was sheer batting mayhem. South Delhi scored 308 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their 20 overs (the highest score set up by any team in T20 cricket). However, it is not sure if it will be officially registered or not.
The opening batter Priyansh Arya scored 120 runs in just 50 deliveries. He smashed 10 fours and 10 sixes during his innings at a strike rate of 240. Ayush Badoni, on the other hand, wreaked havoc with a sensational knock of 165 runs of 55 deliveries with 8 fours and humongous 19 sixes. He had a strike rate of 300 during his innings. Both these batters took their team’s score to 308 runs in their 20 overs.
The bowlers were clueless against the onslaught from these two batters as they plundered boundaries and sixes across all directions at the Arun Jaitley stadium.
Priyansh Arya and Ayush Badoni were the standout performers for South Delhi Superstarz
Priyansh Arya is now part of the exclusive list of batters, featuring Ross Whiteley (2017), Hazratullah Zazai (2018) and Leo Carter (2020), to have hit six sixes in an over in domestic T20 games. On the 12th over of the innings, Priyansh smashed six sixes in an over and wrote history.
Priyansh and Badoni stitched up a partnership of 286 in 103 balls. It is the highest partnership for any wicket in T20 cricket. This was the second time that a team has scored 300 runs in a T20 game.
Badoni has shown his skills in the IPL, featuring for Lucknow Super Giants. He has mainly featured as a finisher for the team and has put up some impactful innings during his short career. He has 35 innings in IPL, scoring 634 runs with a strike rate of 134.
